Biography
Born and raised in Port Elizabeth (now Gqeberha), Thandeka Marwanqa’s musical journey began in the heart of the Eastern Cape. Her early education in Lesotho and later at Tshwane University of Technology, where she earned a National Diploma in Fashion Design in 1987, laid a diverse foundation for her artistic pursuits.

Transitioning from fashion to music, Thandeka became the lead singer of the iconic group Black Slave, captivating audiences across Nelson Mandela Bay and beyond. Their residency at Mdantsane Sun in 1989 extended due to popular demand, followed by performances in Durban and Cape Town, solidifying their presence in South Africa’s music scene.
