Cafe Riza by Vuyokazi Duze: A New Brighton Spot That Hits Different

Mna, Brian Lindikaya Ntshinga, I’ve always been a bit of a foreigner to human contact, and some call me a snob at times. But then, you meet someone who just brings the WOW factor — and that’s Vuyokazi Duze.
Her restaurant, Cafe Riza — named after her childhood nickname — is located at Number 7 Ntshekisa, by the Police Station, so uzoba safe, Bro. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the warm welcome and genuine vibe. It felt like a space where you could relax, laugh, and connect with friends from the past.
What really stood out is how Vuyokazi supports her community. She employs many young people, some of whom I’ve had the privilege to teach. This is more than just a restaurant — it’s a hub of opportunity, culture, and pride.

The vibe inside Cafe Riza is electric: music that moves you, a friendly atmosphere, and a space where culture and connection thrive. And the food? Yho yho yho — authentic African dishes served at affordable prices. In Xhosa, eKitchen — MaZotsho is bringing the culture back, serving flavours that remind us of our roots.
As ECLIVES (eclives.co.za), we are fully behind this initiative. Vuyokazi and Cafe Riza are part of our ECLIVES Spots, helping revive local culture, support youth, and keep the township vibe alive.
So if you’re looking for a place to listen to good music, eat amazing food, and hang with friends, visit Cafe Riza by Vuyokazi Duze. And yho — don’t forget the girls… they add that extra WOW factor!
Support local. Support culture. Support Cafe Riza.
